A Redcar man missing in Benidorm for nearly a week left all his belongings in his hotel, police say.

Donald Cheetham, 65, was due to fly home to the UK from Spain last Friday, May 12, but has not returned.

All his belongings are still in his hotel in Benidorm old town and there are no reports that he has been seen.

Cleveland Police officers are assisting his family, who are in contact with Spanish authorities.

Social media users are being asked to share an appeal for information, and a photo of Mr Cheetham, with anyone they know who may live in Benidorm, or within any messaging forums that British expats use to communicate.

Anyone who may be travelling to Benidorm in the next few days is also asked to keep a lookout for him.

People in the UK who may have information should call Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

Anyone in Spain should speak to the British consulate.
