Travel News:

Popular comedy starring Benidorm’s Crissy Rock to return to South Shields

A comedy is looking to clean up as it comes home to the Customs House later this month.

Dirty Dusting, which premiered at the South Shields theatre in February 2003, will return to the venue on Thursday, October 19.

Chrissy Rock as Elsie.

Benidorm star Chrissy Rock stars as Elsie in the play, which is written by Ed Waugh and Trevor Wood.

It tells the story of three cleaning ladies who start a telephone chat line when threatened with redundancy.

Crissy will appear in the comedy alongside Dolores Porretta Brown as Olive and Leah Bell as Gladys, with the trio’s characters dubbed The Telephone Belles.

Leah said: “Although we perform Dirty Dusting all over the country, there is always something special about bringing this play back to its debut theatre, the Customs House.

“We always feel a little extra twinge of nerves, especially the time we knew the original cast of Jean Southern, Gwen Doran and Helen Russell were sitting in the audience.

“Every time we tour in Dirty Dusting, we always add a little something extra naughty into the closing scene – and this time we have a bit of a surprise for everyone!”

Dirty Dusting toured Scotland, England and Ireland on several occasions, and recently toured New Zealand and Australia. It is heading to Spain next year.

It has recently being released to the amateur market.

The play will be on for one night only, with the show to start at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £21.
