The Benidorm holiday resort is known for its many high rise luxury hotels and apartment blocks. But there is another side to this Spanish resort that you may not be aware of. Here the fine weather is perfect for camping and the resort has many campsites to choose from. These sites cater to tents as well as caravans and RVs, and some have fixed trailer homes as well as caravans for rent.
The fine sunny weather is obviously conducive to camping and offers holidaymakers a cheaper alternate accommodation to more expensive hotels or self-catering apartments. There are around a dozen campsites to be found on Benidorm’s outskirts. These range from basic sites that offer plots where you can pitch your tent or park your caravan or RV, to more luxurious five star holiday complexes that include extra amenities such as swimming pools, Jacuzzis and even health gyms.
Holidaymakers who opt for the freedom of camping rather than the more traditional methods of accommodation, not only get to enjoy the laid back Spanish outdoors and proximity to nature, but also enjoy the favored past time of bicycling along Benidorm’s incredibly flat terrain. Favorite cycling trips include a jaunt into Benidorm itself or perhaps to the neighboring coastal town of Albir. A trip to Albir from Benidorm will only take a few minutes whether you travel by bus or bicycle. A lot of roads have bicycle lanes that make this popular mode of transport both safer and far more relaxing and enjoyable. This is also a great way to work on your tan – weather permitting
If you’re worried about having to rough it and endure the most primitive amenities during your holiday, lay your fears to rest. The campsite is really well equipped with every modern home comfort. This includes fitted kitchens and satellite TV, usually available in the communal TV lounge.
If you have ever camped at one of these campsites on the Costa Blanca, you will know there is a great sense of camaraderie among the holidaymakers (made up of many different nationalities – mostly Brits!) who spend their European winters annually at these campsites. They have boatloads of fun, swimming in the pools and soaking up the sun by day, and then letting their hair down and enjoying the lively entertainment of Benidorm by night.
